Target Group
Children going to middle school.
Objective
Promotion of psychological, social and pedagogical conditions necessary for the development of the child, for the benefit of an education adapted to each student and aimed at equity, equal opportunities and social inclusion, in schools of the 1st Cycle. It is intended to create “a school tailored to each and every one”, which makes it possible to identify and prevent difficulties and which allows all students to grow as human beings, feeling integrated and where they find answers to their diversity and idiosyncrasies. “A Escola Alfaiate” (“The Tailor’s School”) is a school that is not left behind, it is a school with a future”.
General Objectives
- Increasing motivation and well-being and promoting children’s school performance/success
- Preventing risk and/or dangerous situations
- Establish intervention plans
- Sensitize the educational community, to guide and integrate in school curricula other useful day-to-day learning
- Creating an empathic relationship with children
- Stimulate curiosity by promoting other forms of education
Specific Objectives
- Prepare students to reflect and solve real-life problems, encouraging them to discover and resort to creativity, not just for curricular evaluations and topics
- Clarify and reinforcing that all disciplines are of equal importance, valuing students in areas where they are actually good and/or where they feel they have more skills, estimating them and promoting their development
- Teach and encourage students to think and acquire knowledge on their own, empowering them and promoting critical thinking. Allow children the opportunity to be themselves, with their skills and personal interests, taking into account these variables when transmitting knowledge and at the time of evaluation, which are intended to be adapted and effectively individualized. Do not eliminate student identity by treating them as unique beings
- Support, encourage and give freedom to teachers to apply to their pupils the teaching methods that they consider most appropriate to each child, creating different levels and tasks in the same classroom/class; Serenely increasing student participation, without relying on the pressure for assessment
- Encourage students to determine their goals, with support and guidance; Work the classroom dynamics in order to promote student autonomy as a person
- Ensure that all students are respected in their rights and are not offended by words or violence from teachers, colleagues or staff
- Promote the involvement and active participation of parents/guardians/guardians in the school success of the child; Consider that advancement is undoubtedly the main engine of transformation, but not the only one
